For most people, a job is necessary and not everyone is going to find the perfect job or their dream job. However, not having your dream job does not mean it is the wrong job for you. There are so many ways to look at what job is good for you and your career. You just have to think about the many different aspects of a job. A job or career that benefits you involves you being happy and passionate about the work you do. i always believed that you should never have a job that you do not feel happy with. Some people have had jobs that they were depressed with and not happy with, that is never worth is, especially when their are others around you who love their job. Having a career that makes you feel happy and safe is a great feeling, and any problems that come in your way, will not be hard to solve because you know you have something to rely on! We all have different skills than others, but all our skills are needed in so many different work environments. Each job requires a different set of skills and experience that not everyone has. So sometimes you feel that you may never find a job because of competition, but there is always a job that requires your set of skills. Identifying your skills is a big part in identifying who you are especially when it comes to making decisions in your career.

To find your skills, you have to find what your good at, experienced in, and what you prefer. Skills define how you work, what you are good at, and the speed rate of your work. Some people are fast at types of work they are skilled at. That can be a good thing to have for some companies that work in a fast paced environment with deadlines always coming up. All skills are important and necessary all depending on the work environment and the type of work. Identify your skills by experiencing different types of jobs if you have the chance, taking courses with different topics, and just practice. Most people are constantly looking for jobs everyday whether it is because you are unemployed and looking for a job or if you are employed but want to find a new job. Sometimes it is hard, because people who have to look at different companies that are hiring to see if they are offering any jobs that interest them, so the process alone takes a while because you have to apply for multiple jobs not just one, because there is never a guarantee you will get a job. You are competing with so  many people from different backgrounds who might be a better fit for a company, so you have to open up your options to a wider range of jobs and different companies.

The great thing today is that their are companies that post on job websites to make your search easy. Most companies post jobs that they are looking to fill on websites such as SnagaJob, Indeed, Glassdoor, LinkedIn, and more. Some even post on social media to get many people aware that they are hiring. You have websites that offer hundreds of different types of jobs with hundreds of companies. They make your search so much easier so you do not even have to look for the company that is hiring, you can all the requirements, the pay scale, and even your job description so you know what job you are applying for. There are many people who do not like to work for someone else or work with big companies. However, it does not mean you do not have other options. Some people choose to be self-employed and open up their own business. Opening up your business allows you to be so creative and do so much. Everyone wants to have a job that they love, but that can be hard to find with some companies. It is had to get a dream job with your preferred company, so you could always need up with another job in a place you do not like. However, starting up your business, allows you to be creative and you make all the decisions.

Starting up your own business takes a lot of time, money, effort, and research. Most of all it takes dedication. If you are not dedicated and passionate about what you are doing, then the business cannot succeed. A business owner who truly cares and puts in all their time and effort into a project like opening up a business, wants to see it succeed and they can make that happen. Research everything you need to start a business, and that all differs depending on what type of business you open up. You can open up a business that offers services or one that offers products. Mainly it all requires a plan that includes money, inventory, equipment, location, employees, and who you want to help you. When it comes to choosing your career, you must think wisely because choosing the wrong career can only make you have regrets. It takes time to think about the perfect career for some people and for others they have always known what the perfect career is for them. The perfect career is what you want to spend the rest of your life doing, something you are happy with, and making sure you love it and will never regret it! Even if you are not sure of what the perfect career is for you, it helps to research and try new things, see what you like and what you prefer. Experiencing with different jobs and courses at a young age, especially college students is a great way to see what is the perfect job for you!

In What Color Is Your Parachute? by Richard N. Bolles, he mentions the five ways to find or change your career to see what fits you best! His 5 ways include using the Internet, tests, using his flower exercise, changing your career, and also finding out what is needed in the job market. Basically, all these forms all require research and experiencing with different jobs and fields. Each person might use a different form of research the perfect career. In my experience, my preferred two forms of looking for my perfect career include researching through the Internet places that are hiring and job descriptions and where I could work in that career, and my other preferred form changing jobs, experiencing with different types of companies and jobs to see what I like. As i go on, I am still learning what I prefer because at a young age you have so many opportunities and it takes time to find whats perfect for you, but in the end it is all worth it!

When most people hear the word 'handicapped', they think of person who is working but has a disability. However, in the working world that can mean someone who does not have a skills or experience in that form of work compared to others. Not everyone will share all the same forms of skills as others. We all learn differently and not everyone learns the same thing. Some people will be more skilled in an area than others just because they have more experience than them. For example, millennials might be more skilled at social media and technology than older generations such as baby boomers. That is because millennials grew up learning at a young age the use of social media and technology than others. Some people who have been in the workforce longer have to adjust to new changes, whereas millennials grew up constantly using many forms of technology, and that is how they learned.

Not everyone will have the same skills because we are all different people. Some people might be uncomfortable at presenting to big crowds whereas some people are completely fine with presenting. Some people are better at communication than others. Some have more experience than others. Each skill depends on someone's personality, experience, and familiarity with a certain skill. It helps that not everyone has the same skill set, because then you can have employees who are skilled at one ting and another set of employees skilled at something else. People who grew up learning things different, especially with he different generations, all have different forms of learning and have different skills. So handicap does not always mean disability, but it can mean something you do not have that others do in the work environment.

After the seven petal flower exercise, it helps you determine what is the best place for you as a person to work. Everyone has different preferences for their work environment. For example, some people prefer to work in small offices, big companies, firms, hospitals, working from home, traveling for work, or other work locations. We all have different preferences for where we want to work, it all depends on how you fit into the environment and what makes you feel good about that environment. You want to feel happy and that you belong in a workplace. You never should want to hate going to work or hate the commute to work. Find something that suits you. The seven petal exercise is a perfect way to look for what is the best option for you as a person.

Sometimes it is good to try out different workplaces at a young age, such as in the end or after college. At that age, you can learn about many types of work environments, and see what best suits you so you are prepared for long term jobs. You never want to work in a place you hate and regret it in the future. You always have the option to change, but your best and easiest option would be to start experience early on into your job hunt. Always remember to pick a workplace that you feel you fit best with your coworkers, the work, the commute, the location, and the perfect type of workplace that you love. The flower exercise in self-inventory, part 2 of What Color Is Your Parachute? is a beneficial use to identify who you are as a person. You should always think about what defines you as a person such as the people around you, your workplace, knowledge, skills, geographical preferences, and salary should all revolve around your purpose in this world. We all have a purpose in this world, we just need to find what that purpose is. Everyone's purpose is different but they are all necessary, it is how we function and play our roles in the world. The seven petals or factors of you help you find your way, and help you make decisions  on what you want to do. They can be used as a definition of who you are or who you want to be.

Listing out what your preferences or what the petals mean to you can help narrow down what type of person you are. Think of what your prefer and how you work best. For example, in the workplace and people petal, think about what workplace suits you best and what people suit you best. What workplace setting is most important t you, a small, medium, or large workplace? What type of company or business? What people do you prefer to work with in your workplace? These are all important questions to ask yourself, see what best suits you, so you feel happy with your job and the people around you. Sometimes you have to reevaluate yourself during a job hunt. It can be hard to get a job sometimes especially when you are up against other candidates who might fit the job better than you because of either experience, skills, and maybe even personality, whatever fits best in that work environment. It can be hard to find a job, because there are only so many in the world, but not all will be in your area of expertise or something you might be interested in working with. When looking for a job, you might have to expand your search and open up to more job options. Try not to be narrow and only specify to one type of job, because that can be hard to find. You are already competing with so many people fr jobs, if you are going to narrow your job search, it makes it harder to get a job. However, if you expand on your search to be open to more options of jobs you like or relate, then it can help you find a job faster.

You have to find things you are good, such as skills and qualifications.For example, you might have a degree in a certain field of study that has a broad range of jobs. You could be a Marketing major, but you might be skilled at certain types of Marketing over others, even if one of those is not the type of marketing you prefer. Some people might prefer consumer marketing, but there are not many jobs offered, so they need to expand more on other marketing jobs that they might be more skilled at, such as digital, business, and social media marketing. You should know about yourself what you are skilled at and what you have more experience in. You might have done better in one course than another, but you might prefer the one you did not do as well in. You need to think about what is gonna get you hired to get you a job. Then having that job can help you build yourself up better for the future and actually get your dream job! In an interview there are so many questions a person can be asked! Sometimes job seekers are not always prepared for the questions they get asked in an interview. Employers ask many different questions because they want to get to know the people they are hiring better. When employers are looking for candidates to fill job positions, they look at resumes and if they see what they like, they offer candidates an interview. However, your resume is not who you are, its what you have done. our resume is just an introduction of yourself, the part where employers really get to know you as a person and worker is the interview. So sometimes people might give the wrong impression of themselves, and when they do that, employers might not give them a chance because they never got to see who you really are as a person. Being prepared for interviews is only beneficial to a job seeker and being themselves will only help! They need to see who you are, because that is who they want to hire!

When someone offers you tips before an interview, always take them! Tips can be important, and you might not think they are necessary, but they are. tips can prepare you, especially from people who have been on all types of job interviews. Preparing for any questions that are more than likely to be asked of you is best! You can go on many different interviews, but if you do not prepare or follow any advice, it makes it harder to get the job. People always believe that they can never find a job when they are job hunting. Everyone assumes that over the years it has become harder to find a job because there are not enough jobs being offered. However, jobs are always being offered. Sometimes there might not be a job that you are looking for specifically or some that have requirements that one might not meet, however it never means there are not enough jobs being offered. There are so many jobs offered in different industries, such as business, health care, legal, retail, food, politics, and so many more. There are jobs offered in all types of industries. So when someone says there is no jobs being offered that is because they are not expanding on their search.

Some people are more specific of what type of job they want to have. For example, if a person has a degree in accounting, they have many different options to work in accounting such as accounts payable, receivable, tax, cost accounting, forensic, and more. Although there are some people who just look for one type of accounting job, maybe as a forensic accountant. Jobs are not always going to be offered in a specific type of job, but there are so many offered related to what you are looking for. In this economy it is just best for most people to get a job that at least relates to what they want to work with and just work with a job until they find their dream job.

Interviews can be very stressful for people. Everyone is always looking for a job, and the most nerve racking part of the job hunting process is the interview. Sometimes it can be easy to land an interview, but the interview is the most crucial part of the job hunting process. People are always applying for a job when they need to, sometimes that can be the easy part of the process because you can write anything you want, whether its true or not. However, when you get the interview, it gets more nerve racking. When you come face to face with an employer, everything is different. In an interview i when employers really judge you and your qualities! Employers can tell a lot by someone just from interviewing them. Sometimes people give off wrong first impressions in an interview which can permanently impact them.

You must always come prepared for an interview. Be prepared for any questions that you might be asked by an employer, because if you do not know an answer or get stuck, they will believe you are not fit for the job, and reject you without any hesitation. You will never know how an interview might go. They can sometimes go smoothly an sometimes go terribly wrong. Most people get nervous during an interview, because of how crucial it is to get the job SO whenever you get nervous, you must always remain calm and take deep breaths! You should always try to stay relaxed! Being relaxed and calm can help you interview so much better. It will relax hr nerves and help you think better when answering questions. Resumes are so important today, because everyone is always looking for a job! Resumes help employers get a better picture not of who you are as person, but the skills and qualities you have that takes to do a great or awful job. Most job sites now allow a person looking for a job to place their resumes there for employers to see. Sometimes it can be hard to find a job, so it helps when jobs you do not hear of find you! Many employers now look through resumes on job sites such as staffing agencies, Indeed, Glassdoor, and more. Your resume is out there and if they search for specific qualifications and your resume pops up, it would be perfect for you! It shows that you are not only looking, but employers are looking for you too!

However, most people do not realize that many employers not only look for information about you through resumes, but they can find more information about you through social media and Google, two major platforms that can offer up more information about you as a person. Sometimes people do things they would not want their employers to know about them, but it can be hard to keep personal stuff in this day private. Looking for a job can be so stressful for so many people, especially for college graduates. Everyone needs a job when they are older, it can be hard to live without a job. There are so many requirements today for most decent jobs. Without a good resume and good qualifications and skills on that resume, it will only make the job hunting harder. Most companies now want to hire someone with a Bachelor's or Master's degree. That's why for college students, we have more of a chance of finding a job than people who have do not have a college degree. However, after graduating college, for recent graduates it can be hard still to find a job because we are competing with other college graduates. We all want to work in our field of study, but sometimes that might not being option. We have to find jobs based on location, type of company, type of work, hours, and much more requirements.

I have found that a great way to find jobs  is through the Internet, through mutual connections and pages such as LinkedIn. There are also many other jobs sites that post thousands of jobs and can narrow your job search, such as as Indeed, Glassdoor, Snagajob, and more. For me I was fortunate to have found a job in my field of study, Accounting, before even graduating college. I was hired through a staffing company called Accountemps, where they placed me in an amazing company to work in Accounting. I first interviewed with Accountemps for a job with them, but they also place my resume for employers to view who are looking for qualified candidates. That was when the company I now work for called Great Lakes Dredge and Dock found my resume. My employer saw that I was a student majoring in Accounting at Benedictine University so it was a big selling point to Great Lakes. So, they had interviewed me, and within the span of 2 days, I had already got the job.

So sometimes when looking for a job, you might find it hard to find the perfect job or one in your field, however you will be surprised one day and might actually work in your dream job. It all takes time and process, you will never know and one day be surprised and actually find the job yo are looking for, that was how I felt this past summer looking for a job. I applied for do many and I never thought I would find one and get hired in my field!
